Abdul Wali Rasta

Deputy Director

Wali Rasta is the deputy director of PRSO. Mr. Rasta graduated from National Defense Academy, India and from Jawaharlal Nehru University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. During his undergraduate studies, he was able to build a strong academic foundation in security and military studies. Subsequently, he completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Military and Defense studies from HNBG University.

Mr. Rasta earned his Masters’ degree in public and municipal administration from KIMEP University, Kazakhstan. During his graduate studies, Rasta interned with China and Central Asia Studies Center (CCASC) in Kazakhstan, where he nourished his insatiable passion in policy and applied research. He also worked with the Department of Public Administration and International Development at KIMEP University.

Wali Rasta has enjoyed solid experience in numerous capacities and roles with various organizations including security sector, research think tanks, national and international organizations and academic institutions. Rasta is equipped with theoretical as well as practical knowledge & experience in research, public policy development, analysis and training. He has keen interest in areas of security policy, public policy and administration reforms. He has also worked with UNDP for Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) as consultant.
